August 2020 Brilliant Bundle

Grow your writing skills with this trio of brilliant classes!

We understand how launching out into a goal, a dream, a serious endeavor like writing a novel is, well, daunting. You have the fire, the idea, the characters, but how do you keep going?

(And going...)

With the summer in full swing, getting words on the page can be challenging. Our August 2020 Brilliant Bundle offers a trio of lessons to help with your writing journey.

Let's begin with...

Static Description

Good description is sensory, specific, active, figurative and contains a sense of music or rhythm that acts as the musical score of the story. Description brings us into the world and helps us understand the story. More than that, it helps us understand the story through the eyes of the POV character. The key to strong description isn’t the words…it’s the words plus the perspective.

How to Write an Intriguing Suspense

What makes a great suspense novel? This course will teach the essential building blocks of a suspense plot. We'll talk about the differences between mystery, suspense, and thrillers. Then, we'll teach about the importances of G.A.M.E., G.U.T.S., Glory, and Glow.

Then, finally you can learn...

Launch a Book: A Blueprint

During this course, I'll share the steps to launching your book and offer some variations depending on your strategy. We'll discuss a hard launch vs a soft launch, tools needed for your launch, and show how you can create your own book launch plan.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. - Goethe

Susan May Warren
Hi. I'm Susan May Warren. I started writing while I lived in Siberia (yes, you heard that right--cold, snowy, Siberia). Alone. No one to help me, overwhelmed and not a little discouraged. Eighteen years later, I've published over 80 books in five different genres, have landed on numerous bestseller lists (including USA Today), won the RITA, CHRISTY and CAROL awards (and others) and started a school for novelists.

I've learned a few things along the way (beyond techniques on how to stay warm in the tundra!) Most importantly I learned that if I wanted to be published, I had to figure out how to write a book, how to edit it, how to step back from my stories, look at them with a critical eye, figure out what a good manuscript looks like, and then use my unique voice to make that happen.

I'd like to teach you how to write a good book. Edit it...and then, we'll talk about selling it.
