August 2022 Brilliant Bundle

A trio of classes to help strengthen your writing skills.

We understand how launching out into a goal, a dream, a serious endeavor like writing a novel is, well, daunting. You have the fire, the idea, the characters, but how do you keep going?

(And going...)

With summer in full swing, it's tough to find time to write amongst the busyness, but we can help you to keep moving forward with honing your skills and achieving your writing goals. Our August 2022 Brilliant Bundle offers a trio of lessons to help with your writing journey.

Let's begin with...

Emotional Character Wounds

When we work out the SEQs for our characters, one of the elements we pull from the DMS is the wound. What is the character's emotional wound and how does it impact their story? During this class, Lisa Jordan will talk about Emotional Character Wounds. She'll share what they are, why they're important, and how to heal them to fulfill your character's emotional journey.

How to Have an Awesome Writing Conference

Writing conferences can be amazingly fun--and amazingly stressful. So how do you meet all your goals and walk away from a writing conference believing you've made a great investment? Retreats Hostess and newly agented author Alena Tauriainen will talk with host Rachel Hauck about tips on preparing for and attending a writer's conference. A great class about how to get your mind--and your writing materials--ready for success!

How I Used My Novella to Launch My Debut Novel

Tari Faris walks us through how she used her novella, P.S. Goodbye to launch her debut novel, You Belong with Me, increased her email list by over 1000%, and gathered true fans even before her book hit the shelves. She will also share what she learned from the experience and how she will implement in her upcoming Christmas novella, While It Was Snowing.

Whatever you can do or dream you can begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. - Goethe

Susan May Warren
Hi. I'm Susan May Warren. I started writing while I lived in Siberia (yes, you heard that right--cold, snowy, Siberia). Alone. No one to help me, overwhelmed and not a little discouraged. Eighteen years later, I've published over 80 books in five different genres, have landed on numerous bestseller lists (including USA Today), won the RITA, CHRISTY and CAROL awards (and others) and started a school for novelists.

I've learned a few things along the way (beyond techniques on how to stay warm in the tundra!) Most importantly I learned that if I wanted to be published, I had to figure out how to write a book, how to edit it, how to step back from my stories, look at them with a critical eye, figure out what a good manuscript looks like, and then use my unique voice to make that happen.

I'd like to teach you how to write a good book. Edit it...and then, we'll talk about selling it.
