July 2021 Brilliant Bundle

Create a splash with your writing with this trio of brilliant classes.

We understand how launching out into a goal, a dream, a serious endeavor like writing a novel is, well, daunting. You have the fire, the idea, the characters, but how do you keep going?

(And going...)

Especially in the middle of summer!

Even with kids out of school and making memories with family vacations, you can still make a splash with your writing by strengthing your skills. Our July 2021 Brilliant Bundle offers a trio of lessons to help with your writing journey.

Let's begin with...

What keeps you from being published?

Every writer is different, every voice on the page is different, and yet readers have certain expectations for a story that can make a book a pass-along, or one that sits on the shelf. What are those expectations? And what skills must a writer master to achieve these expectations?

  • What glues a reader to a story and the three questions that will help you nail this.
  • 5 essentials for every story - and how one question helps you build these.
  • 2 tips to bringing your characters to life.
  • The 3 tools in your arsenal to build emotions (and the one question to ask to make sure you're SHOWING and not Telling)
  • The 1 trick to ramping up your writing skills.

Secrets to Starting Your Story

Join Susie May and Rachel as they talk through just how to get chapter 1 on the page using Susie's Big 10 technique, then they will read the chapter and walk through the edits. The fun is just starting!

The Chiastic Structure

NYT bestselling author extraordinaire, Rachel Hauck, kicks off a new series called Writing Well with Rachel, beginning with the chiastic writing structure, which is an ancient writing form used in scripture and epic poetry like Beowulf.

Whatever you can do or dream you can begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. - Goethe

Susan May Warren
Hi. I'm Susan May Warren. I started writing while I lived in Siberia (yes, you heard that right--cold, snowy, Siberia). Alone. No one to help me, overwhelmed and not a little discouraged. Eighteen years later, I've published over 80 books in five different genres, have landed on numerous bestseller lists (including USA Today), won the RITA, CHRISTY and CAROL awards (and others) and started a school for novelists.

I've learned a few things along the way (beyond techniques on how to stay warm in the tundra!) Most importantly I learned that if I wanted to be published, I had to figure out how to write a book, how to edit it, how to step back from my stories, look at them with a critical eye, figure out what a good manuscript looks like, and then use my unique voice to make that happen.

I'd like to teach you how to write a good book. Edit it...and then, we'll talk about selling it.
