September 2020 Brilliant Bundle

Jump into fall with this trio of brilliant classes!

We understand how launching out into a goal, a dream, a serious endeavor like writing a novel is, well, daunting. You have the fire, the idea, the characters, but how do you keep going?

(And going...)

With school beginning and Autumn around the corner, getting words on the page can be challenging. Our September 2020 Brilliant Bundle offers a trio of lessons to help with your writing journey.

Let's begin with...

Pitching Tips and Tricks

"Oh, you're writing a book? What is it about?" The question every author is asked. Hopefully by a friend, but often by an agent or editor. Maybe in an elevator, or while waiting for a cab, or in the food line at a conference. And right then, you have a choice. Freeze like a deer in the headlights, wax on for an hour, or give a short but compelling explanation. Can you do it? This lesson will talk about Pitching - the act of "selling" your book. With seasoned authors, Rachel Hauck and Beth Vogt hosting, they'll talk about the experience of pitching, some tips to finding that great line, techniques for staying calm, pitch sheets, and answer your questions about pitching. It's your opportunity to figure out your answer to: What's it about?

Susan May Warren
Hi. I'm Susan May Warren. I started writing while I lived in Siberia (yes, you heard that right--cold, snowy, Siberia). Alone. No one to help me, overwhelmed and not a little discouraged. Eighteen years later, I've published over 80 books in five different genres, have landed on numerous bestseller lists (including USA Today), won the RITA, CHRISTY and CAROL awards (and others) and started a school for novelists.

I've learned a few things along the way (beyond techniques on how to stay warm in the tundra!) Most importantly I learned that if I wanted to be published, I had to figure out how to write a book, how to edit it, how to step back from my stories, look at them with a critical eye, figure out what a good manuscript looks like, and then use my unique voice to make that happen.

I'd like to teach you how to write a good book. Edit it...and then, we'll talk about selling it.
