Basic Writing Classes: Scene Crafting

Story Rhythm through Scenes

A great book starts with a powerful first scene…and builds scene by scene from there. . This month, we’re starting with an overview of scenes – everything AFTER that first scene. A great Story has a rhythm to it, not unlike music drawing your reader through the story., that helps create the pacing of your novel. It also helps establish that essential tool to keeping your reader engaged…Character motivation. This rhythm is created through the powerful combination of Action and ReAction scenes.

In this lesson, learn the Rhythm of storytelling with an overview of these two scenes. In addition, learn:

  • The components of Action/ReAction Scenes.
  • A powerful MBT Scene Combination technique to keep your pace steady through Act 2.
  • Examples of high action & low action scene starts.
